Summary
When you show a bunch of articles, for instance in a category blog layout, you may only show some intro text followed by a "read more" link. In this tutorial we show you how to do that.
Prerequisites
- CM2.1 Creating an article and publishing under a menu-item
- CM2.2 Creating a category
- CM2.3 Menu items for a category of articles
Steps (TinyMCE)
- Write your article in Joomla in the article editor.
- Using TinyMCE (the default editor), in the editor's toolbar, place your mouse cursor at the spot you want to insert the Read More.
- On the editor's toolbar, go to CMS Content and select "Read More". The split article is indicated by a red line of dots, like: . . . . . . . . . . .
- Preview the page either within Joomla or go to your front-end of the site to preview. You may need to log in with relevant user credentials to see an unpublished article.

Concepts
- Intro text
The introduction text can be the first paragraph of your article, or part of the first paragraph - Full text
The full article that site visitors will read. - Read more
Read More will be presented as a text link, that will show the full article. It will be located below the intro text. You can customise the link and the link wording to anything. It does not have to say simply "Read More".
