Command Line Interface

The Joomla Command Line Interface (CLI) provides a way to manage and perform administrative tasks on your Joomla website directly from the terminal. It is especially useful for site administrators and developers who want to automate processes, perform maintenance quickly, or manage installations without relying on the web-based backend.

Using the CLI allows you to execute commands such as installing Joomla, running maintenance scripts, clearing caches, or performing updates, all with greater speed and control.

This section of the manual covers:

Using the CLI

Learn how to run and work with Joomla’s built-in command line tools.

  • Using the CLI – Understand available commands, how to execute them, and when to use the CLI over the web interface.

Joomla CLI Installation

Set up Joomla directly from the command line.

  • Joomla CLI Installation – Install Joomla using command line options, a faster and more flexible method than traditional web-based installation.

With these tools, Joomla’s CLI offers administrators and developers a powerful alternative to the backend, making site setup and maintenance faster and more efficient.
